Vinesse Wine Club Review

We may earn money or products (at no cost to you) from the companies mentioned in this post. However, we do not let any merchant influence our ratings - even though they might like to. ;-) Some of our top rated merchants we have no relationship with, other than we like their products! We do however appreciate you using our links when possible, because it allows us to keep the lights on and bring you more great reviews!

Vinesse has been providing wine club memberships for over 20 years. The club originally started among wine lovers in 1993 who wanted to find a way to share wines with the world – without costing a fortune. Today they offer more membership options than any other wine club out there and they stick to their mission to provide high-quality wine without breaking the bank.

A club with a membership that suits just about every need.

PROS:
  • No contracts
  • Tons of membership options
  • Per bottle and bulk pricing options
  • Shipping to all states except Utah
  • Large selection of wines
CONS:
  • High standard shipping rates
  • Terms and conditions unclear

Wine Selection: (Rating: 10/10)

Vinesse is one of the only wine clubs to offer champagne, sparkling wines, and just about every variety of wine a member could ask for. Members have so many selections, and can still pick and choose which bottles they want from upcoming shipments. Wines include US and international varieties and they also offer rare/collectible/vintage wines in certain memberships.

Wine Quality: (Rating: 10/10)

Vinesse offers various wine qualities to suit every budget. Whether a member wants budget-friendly or a very fine wine, they have a membership option to suit those tastes. They even offer seasonal wines for those who want to drink to the season.

Memberships/Pricing: (Rating: 9/10)

There are no contracts or commitments with this wine club. They have a long list of membership options – probably the largest number of memberships out there. Members are in full control of their membership, including picking how many bottles they want, how often they want to be shipped to and billed, etc. Pricing is based per bottle for some memberships and case prices for others – offering more versatility. There are no signup bonuses at this time.

Unfortunately there are no one-time shipment membership options with Vinesse. They have a great selection of options, but this is something we would like to see them incorporate later on for maximum versatility. Memberships cannot be limited either; instead, you are required to sign up for the duration the type of membership requires.

Additional Perks: (Rating: 2/10)

While they offer a robust list of wine clubs and options, they do not have additional perks. Occasionally wine club members will receive discounts and coupon codes via email, but that is all. There are no mobile apps or points/rewards programs at this time.

States: (Rating: 10/10)

Vinesse Wine Club can ship to all states except Utah. They do, however, charge a standard shipping and handling rate per bottle, which ranges from $18 to $39 per shipment.

Gift Memberships and Options: (Rating: 6/10)

Vinesse does have a lot of gifting options. Not only do they have memberships, but they also have gift cards from $20 and up (you will need to call to order a gift card though). They also have wine gifts that can be purchased outside of a membership, including 15 different wine samplers in two, three and four bottle collections.

However their gift memberships are rather lacking. When signing up for a gift membership there is no special perks or options – something we hope they improve on in the future. Also, you cannot limit the duration, which means you will need to cancel at the end of the term or the recipient can continue to receive shipments with your payments.

Website Features: (Rating: 8/10)

The website is easy to navigate. They even have a wine blog that discusses recipes, new bottles of wine, company announcements and more. Finding information about the wine clubs and the wines shipped is very easy as well.

Customer Service/Support: (Rating: 5/10)

Vinesse offers phone, email and live chat support. While they are easy to contact, during regular business hours, they have very little information regarding the wine clubs, terms and conditions, etc. online. Also our interactions with Vinesse when requesting information many times required repeated attempts, and emails tended to go unanswered.

Who is This Wine Club Best Suited For?

Vinesse is a multi-purpose wine club. They have so many membership options, it is hard to find one that doesn't work for a specific member type. They cater to beginning wine drinkers, budget-seeking wine drinkers and even those who are looking for rare and vintage varieties of wine.

What We Like and What We Don't Like

Vinesse Wine Club has a lot to like. Their large number of wine club memberships and options allows a person to customize their wine club experience to their needs. While this is a positive, it can also be a negative. It can be confusing for a new wine club member to figure out which club they want to join.

The club charges per bottle. That means the amount the member will pay per shipment will vary. This unexpected pricing may be a problem for wine club members trying to stick to a budget – and the clubs extremely high shipping rates per bottle can make a club member pay a lot more than they expected at signup.

There are no contracts; therefore, a member could sign up and cancel if the club isn’t what they were hoping for. There is also a 100 percent money back guarantee – so there isn’t anything to lose when trying this club out.

7.5 Total Score
A wine club for every need and budget.

Vinesse Wine Club offers a dizzying array of membership options and truly tries to please every wine drinker and collector. Their selections range from budget-friendly to rare to champagne and vintage. They strive to give members more value for their dollar regardless of what type of wine they’re ordering in their membership.
