WPEngine Scoring and Rating
Hosting Package: (Rating: 10/10)
WP Engine is all about WordPress hosting. They offer managed WordPress hosting for companies and individuals. Their hosting plans are classified by Personal, Professional, Business, Premium, and Enterprise Grade.
While they are more costly than your average website host, they are more reliable and offer higher visitor volumes, transfer rates and storage. A Personal Plan, for example, comes with 10GB of storage, 25,000 visitor hits per month and unlimited data transfer. A Business Plan, as another example, comes with up to 25 installs, 400,000 visitors per month, 30GB storage and unlimited data transfers. Most companies limit entry-level hosting plans to 10,000 max visitors and 5GB storage. So, these generous amounts are definitely something to consider when you look at the price.
Features: (Rating: 9/10)
The features with WP Engine are much more robust than first meets the eye – and they are one of the few hosts to offer staging areas as a free feature. Most companies require that you upgrade to their highest paid plan to have staging, while WP Engine automatically offers it with all plans (including the Personal Plan).
Other features include 3rd party SSL, 24/7 support, multiple sites, transferable installs, scalable infrastructure, optimized WordPress hosting for faster speeds and installs, built-in tools just for WordPress (dashboards for launching and staging, automatic and on-demand backups, plugins and widgets, etc.).
They also have a team of WordPress experts, because they are WordPress optimized hosts. This is an important feature to consider – especially since today more websites run off WordPress than any other platform.
Security: (Rating: 10/10)
WP Engine deserves the ever elusive 5 stars for having excellent preventative and reactive security. Daily backups and managed upgrades are standard with every plan. The staff of WP Engine rigorously test WordPress security upgrades before applying them to customers’ websites. This measure helps to prevent unnecessary downtime and security loopholes from slipping through the cracks.
WP Engine's data centers are fast and secured. You can also choose where you want your site hosted from, but their data centers are located in Asia, Europe and the United States. You will want to assess each data center to see which works for you – or just let them default it for you. Before selecting a data center, you can actually test the ping on an IP address, which WP Engine provides. They also offer excellent redundancy in their data centers and they do what they can to see as little downtime as possible.
WordPress: (Rating: 10/10)
WP Engine is a WordPress optimized host – and that is all they specialize in. Therefore, you are going to get the best support and infrastructure for your WordPress site. They offer everything from one-click installs to automatic backups, automatic updates (for each new version of WordPress), website staging and more. Their tech support is full of a team of WordPress experts too – something other companies cannot boast about.
Basically if you want a host that is dedicated to making WordPress awesome, you want to try WP Engine.
Ease of Use: (Rating: 10/10)
With thorough help guides and support staff standing ready, it’s simple to move a website to WP Engine. The help articles are broken into easily-digestible sections that offer enough information for novices without babying advanced users. It doesn’t hurt that WP Engine’s website is ridiculously easy on the eyes.
There isn’t much customers need to do to manage their hosting. Backups, upgrades, and caching are handled by WP Engine staff.
Reliability: (Rating: 10/10)
WP Engine is remarkably reliable. As with all hosting companies, they cannot offer 100 percent uptime guarantees, but they do offer 99.99% guarantee. With three data centers in three continents, you have more reliability from WP Engine that companies with only a single data center location. Also, they only host WordPress sites and their servers are optimized for WordPress – so you don't have to worry about other sites bringing down your own.
Also, WP Engine bans certain WordPress plugins that backup and cache plugins because they can make the site unstable. These services are included in every WP Engine plan anyway, so you shouldn’t need a plugin.
Help and Support: (Rating: 9/10)
It’s rare to find a host so dedicated and knowledgeable about WordPress. Customers don’t have to deal with support staff that is hopelessly (and perhaps understandably) clueless on the intricacies of WordPress. Tech support is 24/7, but only via email and phone. Live chat is available as well, but only during normal business hours.

What we Like about WPEngine
Specializes in WordPress Websites: The help staff of your average hosting company only knows the basics of WordPress, if anything at all beyond how to install it. They’re a jack of all trades, which is perfectly fine. WP Engine breaks the mold by being truly good at one content management system. Every aspect of their company is targeted directly at achieving excellence in this one area.
Excellent Security Measures: WordPress users no longer have to worry about reading up on the latest vulnerabilities. WP Engine does the hard part by juggling this responsibility for you. They ensure every WordPress blog is the securest it can possibly be, and if they make a mistake, they fix it without charge.
Advice Tailored to Customers from Real Experts: Despite support’s limited hours, they provide genuinely good advice and help. If they can’t help, they have a list of consultants WP Engine staff has personally tested and recommends.
Commitment to Transparency: The company states that they believe in “transparently sharing results.” Customers aren’t locked into contracts because WP Engine hopes to keep customers by offering superior services and being brutally honest and helpful. True to their word, even their downtimes are thoroughly detailed with frequent updates as they work to find a solution.

What we Don't Like about WPEngine
Limited Support Hours: WP Engine keeps normal business hours. You can email them any time, but chat and phone support is limited to the American 9 to 5. This might be a hassle for international customers, or customers who keep a comparatively odd schedule.
Pricey Hosting Packages: The company addresses their abnormally expensive plans upfront. WP Engine doesn’t outsource support to minimum wage employees, nor do they use the cheapest servers they can find. They stress security and stability, and these things aren’t easy to provide on a bare bones budget. Think about it this way: Godaddy is the Pizza Hut of the web hosting world, whereas WP Engine is the pizza joint owned by the Sicilian family down the road. They’re the real deal, but quality comes at a price.

Who is This Host Best Suited For?
WP Engine is all about VIP hosting for WordPress users. They offer hassle-free experiences, but you will pay for that price. While they are costly, plenty of new bloggers and WordPress site users have found them well worth every penny.
WP Engine will take time to get used to, so those new to web hosting may get frustrated at first. Those experienced in web hosting may also get frustrated, but that is just because they have a different way of doing things. The support, however, is extremely responsive and that is perfect for those new to WordPress sites and hosting.
WP Engine is by far one of the more expensive web hosting services, but they admit it. They pride themselves on offering the latest technology, speed, quality and remarkable service that matches the price. Revuezzle is hosted on WPEngine.
