Web Conferencing

RingCentral launched in 2003 to eliminate the communication challenges businesses face when relying on traditional in-office hardware alone. Today, the company aims to create easy, simple business communication solutions that fit their need. RingCentral Meetings offers web conferencing services as part of RingCentral Office and allows each user to conference with up to 50 people, while offering high-level functionality for the modern office.

  • 24/7 customer service available only to plans with 2 users.

Meeting Setup: (Rating: 8/10)

Setup is simple and takes minutes. However, since RingCentral Meetings is part of a broader VoIP communications package, users will first need to have their systems integrated with RingCentral Office. This makes it more difficult to enjoy the features of Ring Central Meetings – especially if you do not wish to use their VoIP services too. Hopefully they can find a way in the future to separate the two so that you can use the reliability of RingCentral without having to sign up for multiple services.

Features: (Rating: 8/10)

RingCentral Meetings offers a wide array of features, such as video and audio recording, mobile accessibility, speaker spotlight, and HD conferencing. However, newly added features may have reduced overall connectivity and quality during extended or heavy use.

RingCentral's Online Meetings does work on Windows and Mac and they also have mobile availability for Android and iPhone. You can host a large number of attendees at once (depending on the plan you sign up for), and you can integrate your service with Microsoft Outlook to start or schedule an online meeting in a click. You can also integrate the service with Google Calendar and iCal. If you are hosting a meeting on the go, you can send text message invites.

Also, they offer active speaker spotlights during meetings to highlight the current speaker and keep track of what is going on in the meeting. While not necessarily unique, it is important to note since not all web conferencing programs offer this.

While they have tons of great features, we hope to see more competitive features in the future from RingCentral – since other web conferencing programs do have more to offer.

Video: (Rating: 10/10)

Unlimited HD video conferencing is available with unlimited minutes, as well as mobile options for use with smartphones and tablets. Mobile and desktop capabilities allow for video conferencing outside of a traditional office setting.

Audio: (Rating: 7/10)

Active speaker spotlight keeps users engaged. Sound quality is good, but some users report a problematic increase in dropped calls, and we experienced unintended loss of sound remedied only by launching the application again.

Security: (Rating: 10/10)

RingCentral uses multilevel security built into its products across all platforms. Customers can customize settings on the front end to control and manage users. Other security features include assigned PIN numbers, fraud protection, transmission security, and network security.

Ease of Use: (Rating: 8/10)

Its high functionality and options allow for easy application management and ease of use. However, those unfamiliar with RingCentral Office or mobile technology may encounter initial difficulty or may not make full use of the available features.

Help & Support: (Rating: 9/10)

All customers can submit 24/7 support tickets. Live phone support is available 24/7 for those with at least two users. One User systems have live phone support available from 5:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. PT, Monday–Friday (excluding holidays). Since pricing is set per user, this decreases 24/7 phone support access for individuals in need of only one user.

RingCentral Meetings is a feature within the RingCentral Office product line.

What we Like about RingCentral Meetings

Easy Setup: Setup takes less than two minutes for users already using RingCentral as their VoIP provider. Guided assistance is available for current and new users. Depending on the service needs, guided new user set up is available. New RingCentral Office accounts are activated immediately once ordered.

High Functionality: RingCentral Meetings can be used across multiple platforms, including tablets and mobile for access on the go. Recording is available to all participants. Safe driving mode lets users easily disable video and mute so that users can attend web conferencing meetings safely and hands free.

Tablet Friendly: Not only does RingCentral Meeting have high mobile functionality, it extends that functionality and accessibility to tablets as well via an app. This app is for Apple and Android smartphones and tablets.

Easy to Manage: As a separate service available as part of RingCentral Office, web conferencing is easy to manage and user friendly. Account adjustments and settings can be accessed and managed via mobile or desktop, making RingCentral Meetings ideal for telecommuters.

Calendar Integration: RingCentral easily integrates with Outlook, iCal, or Google Calendar across all accessible devices (PC, mobile, tablet) for easy meeting scheduling and updates.

Cloud Based: Because RingCentral Office is cloud based, the set up the set up and maintenance costs typical of business VoIP communication systems is eliminated. This makes it an attractive choice for businesses with limited physical space. It also means that services are available across multiple platforms and locations at any time, further improving accessibility.

Enhanced Security Features: RingCentral Meetings uses multi-level network security and infrastructure, encryption, and security PINs to enhance security. Since the product is cloud based, care is taken to ensure physical security of RingCentral’s servers and reduce interruption of service. Customers can customize additional settings and permissions on the user-end.

Competitively Priced: For small businesses with less than 50 employees, RingCentral Meetings offers high functionality at a lower cost than its competitors, making it a great value for the money.

Up to 50 Participants: RingCentral Meetings allows up to 50 conference participants. Its competitors typically accommodate 25 attendees.

What we Don't Like about RingCentral Meetings

Connectivity Issues: Some users report connectivity issues, including dropped calls and audio problems—such as muting. When muting occurs, users will need to disconnect in order to fix the issue. While this does not happen regularly, it is inconvenient at times.

Not a Stand Alone Product: Since RingCentral Meetings is part of RingCentral Office, it may not be an ideal solution for those looking for only web conferencing services.

No App for Windows Phones: Currently, the mobile and tablet app feature is only available for Apple and Android interfaces and not compatible with Windows based phones and tablets.

Limited Customer Service Access: Those accounts with less than two users have limited access to customer service. This could be an issue for startups.
