We may earn money or products (at no cost to you) from the companies mentioned in this post. However, we do not let any merchant influence our ratings - even though they might like to. ;-) Some of our top rated merchants we have no relationship with, other than we like their products! GoToMeeting offers quick and easy one-click meetings for small businesses and individuals alike. It is reliable, fast, and now complete with high-definition video conferencing. GoToMeeting works best on Windows devices.

GoToMeeting was acquired by Citrix Online, a division of Citrix Systems, in 2003. It supports meetings with up to 100 people. It is an excellent solution for communicating with remote workers and collaborating effectively with colleagues and potential new customers. For higher-end needs, Citrix also offers GoToWebinar (up to 1,000 collaborators).

PROS:
  • Full features (HD video, audio, screen sharing, recording etc.)
  • Free for attendees
  • Specific application sharing for PC
  • Free 30-day trial or free plan for up to three participants
  • 5-100 participants depending on plan
  • 24/7 customer service
CONS:
  • Clunky interface
  • Recordings have to be converted
  • History of compatibility problems for Macs

Meeting Setup: (Rating: 10/10)

Meeting setup with GoToMeeting is extremely simple. In fact, all you have to do is schedule your meeting, start the meeting and invite your contacts. You can keep track of meetings and even take a look at your meeting history. Starting is easy because it is integrated with Outlook – so you can email contacts from Outlook and invite them to your upcoming meeting.

Features: (Rating: 8/10)

GoToMeeting has all the features you could ask for. They let you schedule meetings in advance, check on meeting history, invite attendees, launch from convenient locations, pass over control to another attendee, join from mobile devices and computers alike and even enjoy desktop and application sharing. However, the platform has notorious problems with Macs. Also, meeting recordings have to be converted and take up a lot of space.

They also have personal meeting rooms where you can create a permanent URL for your meetings. There are drawing tools for screen sharing and polling options as well.

Video: (Rating: 10/10)

Visual types will love GoToMeeting’s six HD conferencing streams and crystal clear pictures.

Audio: (Rating: 10/10)

Choose from VoIP or integrated toll-free calling. Sound quality during our trials was good. The audio is clear and makes for a better meeting experience than those using poor-quality audio feeds. They also include one-click meeting recording, built-in audio at no extra charge and a toll-free option for those interested.

Security: (Rating: 10/10)

GoToMeeting uses top-of-the-line encryption and security measures to keep private matters private. They offer a secure web conferencing portal with the option of setting up your own permanent URL for more privacy.

Ease of Use: (Rating: 6/10)

GoToMeeting is an excellent web conferencing platform, but it is not perfect. The interface is clunky, and users will need time to get used to it. Mac users will be particularly disappointed with the service, which isn’t fully compatible with OSX.

Help and Support: (Rating: 10/10)

GoToMeeting’s 24/7 support includes a database, video tutorials, phone calls, and request tickets. They do not have online chat, but the telephone representatives are available around the clock.

What We Like About GoToMeeting

Full Features: GoToMeeting is a leading provider of online meetings and has all of the bells and whistles to go along with the title. Whether it is meeting recording, interchangeable presenters, or HD video conferencing for multiple users, GoToMeeting offers everything business consumers have come to expect of web conferencing software.

Free for Attendees: There is no additional fee for any of the meeting attendees. It’s free for attendees to attend a meeting; it’s as simple as accepting a meeting invitation.

Specific Application Sharing for PC: If you have multiple applications open, you don’t have to shut them down prior to a meeting. You can easily control what applications from your desktop you share with your meeting attendees. Simply select which applications you wish to share, and participants will see only those applications.

Free Trial and Version: GoToMeeting offers two ways to try out its services. The free version of GoToMeeting has limited features and is good for up to three participants. Users who want to try out the service for longer can sign up for a full 30-day trial. Credit card information is required to set up the trial, but as long as the user cancels before the trial is up, no charges are incurred.

Up to 100 Participants: Have up to six people on HD webcam and another 94 people logged in to watch the meeting. This allows business owners to hold company-wide meetings or presentations even when all of the workers are scattered abroad.

24/7 Customer Service: GoToMeeting representatives can be reached 24 hours a day, 7 days a week via phone or email. As of yet, there is no customer chat available.

What We Don't Like About GoToMeeting

Clunky Interface: The GoToMeeting interface features a series of drop-down menus. The webcam and the chat window cannot be viewed simultaneously, and other options are hidden unless selected. The interface takes some getting used to and is not particularly intuitive.

Recording Conversion: Recordings have to be converted from GoToMeeting format to other formats, such as .mov, post-recording. This process takes several minutes, and the large files can add up. The starter and free version do not have a recording option.

History of Mac Compatibility Problems: Mac users complain of freezes, crashes, and other computer clashes with GoToMeeting software. Some of the standard features, such as isolated application screen sharing, are missing for the Mac. GoToMeeting claims to be working on the issues.
