GlobalMeet is a great web conferencing and webinar platform for holding large meetings from anywhere in the world. They offer a wide range of features that integrate with Outlook for your convenience and provide optimal customer service. Although there is a download needed to participate in the meeting, you will have a wonderful experience when you use GlobalMeet.

  • Automatically adjusts video streams to show the speaker
  • Recordings and participant reports
  • Ability to lock meetings

CONS:
  • Current issues with using Flash on Chrome

  • Only 5 video views recommended for best quality

Meeting Setup: (Rating: 8/10)

The set up itself was extremely easy to do. Using their platform, either from the downloaded app or Outlook you are able to quickly schedule a meeting, upload needed documents or presentations, and invite guests. They did lose a few points because they currently have a counterproductive issue with Google Chrome. When using Chrome to connect to your meeting you need to disable your PPAPI Pepper Flash, then install and enable NPAPI Shockwave Flash to run your meeting with a webcam. Multiple members of their team have informed me that this has to be done until Chrome completely switches to the new PPAPI, as they are phasing out use of the NPAPI. Once this is done GlobalMeet will update their systems to match the new Pepper Flash.

Features: (Rating: 10/10)

There are several easy to use features, which provide excellent meetings. GlobalMeet has an easy Outlook integration, a screen sharing option which allows you to share various portions of your screen or applications, an enhanced video feature, a whiteboard, and many others which makes their platform a great option for web conferencing or webinars.

Video: (Rating: 9/10)

Currently their video is only receiving a 9 out of ten due to its issue with integrating into chrome. Its video function actually provides one of its most unique features. When using webcams, although it is best to only have up to 5 hosts at a time, it will automatically ensure that the person speaking is being viewed.

Audio: (Rating: 10/10)

GlobalMeet’s audio is superb. Whether you are using a webcam, built-in mic, headset, or phone the audio quality is excellent. There were not any problems with hearing anyone who was speaking, and there was not any echo or static.

Security: (Rating: 10/10)

There are many security features, which can be turned on when using GlobalMeet. Each attendee does have to be invited and provide a name, email address, and the meeting web address before they log in. You also have the option to have them enter a PIN number. When calling in, they will need to have the PIN as well. Once the meeting is in session, you do have the option to lock the meeting and dismiss any callers who should not be on the line.

Ease of Use: (Rating: 10/10)

Once everything is downloaded and you have all the login information that you need, it is very easy to use the platform. As a host you can easily switch between sharing your screen, uploading a document, creating a poll, or using any of the other features. GlobalMeet allows you to easily keep all your participants engaged, or make them presenters.

Help & Support: (Rating: 10/10)

GlobalMeet has excellent support and help, beginning with their live demo. Every member who signs up with GlobalMeet has the option to receive a live demonstration of all the features it has to offer you. Their chat and phone lines are an excellent way to get direct help while running your meeting. Plus they have 24/7 customer support through emails, phone calls, chat, and their abundant list of guides and videos.

The results of these polls can be kept private or shared with the entire meeting. Each participant will be able to the graphs and charts showing how they responded. Each question you ask is also stored for use in another meeting or used to create a survey. The surveys can also be created during the meeting and shared with the group.

Q&A Options: One of the features that makes GlobalMeet unique is their Q&A feature. Not only is it easy to access during your meeting, but you multiple ways to use it and are able to download the reports. When members ask you a question using the Q&A option it ensures you get the question and leaves you with the opportunity to answer it privately or share the question and response with the entire group. Each question and answer can be downloaded as they are answered, or at the end of the meeting you can download all the questions and answers into a spreadsheet.

Whiteboard and Annotation: Both the whiteboard and annotation tools can be used by any participant in the meeting. They do not have to download the apps, nor do they have to be a presenter. However, whiteboard is not available on the iPad.

What We Don’t Like about GlobalMeet

Invitations can be Troublesome: Unless you are inviting participants from your Outlook account, you do have to enter each email address or phone number individually. However, the rest of the process is simple and you can even have the meeting call your participant.

Flash Plug-in Does not Always Work: If you are using Chrome, you may have to go through a bit of a process to get your webcam to work for video or audio. GlobalMeet is waiting for Chrome to completely Phase out its old plugin before they update their meeting platform to connect using their new Flash plugin. Once this is done, the transition and connections will be much smoother.

Extra Process for Purchasing the Platform: Unlike many other platforms, you have to email the support team to purchase GlobalMeet. Once you email them they will set you up with a free account and schedule a live demo with you. Once you decide you like the product, then they will share the pricing information with you as they work with you to figure out which plan works best for you and your company.

More than 5 Videos May Cause Lag: You are able to have unlimited videos, however more than five will cause some latency issues. It is highly recommended that you keep your video streams to a maximum of five.

Final Thoughts

GlobalMeet is a great web conferencing platform for anyone who wants to hold large or small meetings. They have many features which help keep the meeting interactive and allow for much customization. The pricing of this product makes it a win-win situation for anyone who wants to host a highly effective web meeting.
